View 3d Images Online
How can cross eye 3d work?
I am looking on 3d cross eye images online(2 images next to each other) and after a few seconds it looks amazing. Just like I remember it on the old view-master lol.
How can it look so different? It really looks like stuff in the behind really is behind. How?
When you look at actual 3d objects, your eyes are telling your brain “the thing that’s in focus is in front of or behind the things that are doubled and blurry.” Put your hand about 2 feet in front of your face, and “look” at whatever’s behind your hand without really looking at it… keep focusing on your hand but try to notice what the things not in focus look like. They’re doubled, as each of your eyes sees something different.
With 3d pictures, or stereograms, when you see things in “focus,” it’s really just that the pattern is repeated EXACTLY in certain areas, so that both your eyes see the same thing. In other areas, the pattern is changed so that your eyes don’t see the same thing. Since your eyes are always telling your brain “if we don’t see the same thing, it’s in front of or behind the object in focus” then you really, honestly think that the picture is 3d.

Go through and try to find where the pattern is different and where it’s the same, and you’ll see how it works!
