Upgrade Processor Dell Latitude Cpi

Can i upgrade my Dell CPi Laptop Processor?

I would like to know if it is possible to Upgrade my processor in my Dell Latitude CPi 300XT Laptop I have seen some 500 Mhz and 400Mhz processor modules that look like they would work but i am not sure. i am thinking about using this one for general purposes then getting a new one for work etc. i would like to be able to upgrade this one as much as possible i don’t really mind the cost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.i would like to not have to buy a new one for home, but if it would be cheaper then . . .
I would like to know if possible what processors it could be upgraded to.
thanks

The Cpi can likely be upgraded to a 400MHz processor — but that’s the MAX. I say that because the 500MHz were Pentium III’s and they for sure wouldn’t be compatible (there’s no such thing as a 500MHz Pentium II). BUT even if you can get a 400MHz processor in it, for the minimal amount of speed it’s really not worth the time or money. Add some more RAM instead. It should take either PC66 or PC100 RAM. Get two sticks of 128MB’s for a total of 256MB and that will do you a lot more good than a slightly faster processor. Also, re-do your operating system if your computer is slow– that’s the #1 cause of slow computers— too much software having been added and/or removed and they get slow as molases. Good luck….

While Dell’s Latitude line is aimed at larger corporate markets, this is the line you want to look at if you’re a mobile power user. The Latitude CPx is extremely well equipped, boasting a 650 MHz Pentium III processor with 256 MB of memory, a 12 GB hard drive (specially shock mounted to reduce the possibility of damage if dropped), and a 14.1-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 p…
