Does the Intel dual quad processor run faster on windows Vista? ?

I just installed an Intel dual quad. Q6600 and also installed windows XP professional on my PC. Do you think it run faster if I install window vista on it? Or it does not make any difference?

Actually Windows XP runs faster than Windows Vista with pretty much any processor whether it be quad or duo core. There are only some advantages of using Windows Vista over Windows XP and these are basically:

1. BitLocker Drive encryption (in only Ultimate and Enterprise editions)
2. ReadyBoost disk caching (for using a USB thumb drive to emulate RAM instead of using your Hard Drive. This is great for people who use Vista with 1 GB of RAM or less)
3. Changes to the boot cycle of the PC, numerous changes here, but not necessarily faster.
4. Windows Mail system is better than Outlook Express
5. Several newer games
6. A new snipping tool that is actually quite good
7. A new recovery mode
8. Shadowcopies of files
9. A new way to store pictures using a different caching system that is quicker than in Windows XP
10. A different, more efficient way of handling Recycled files. More for forensics purposes, not that most users would see any difference here really.
11. New disk management features. Change volume sizes (extend or shrink) on the fly. Change cluster sizes on volumes on the fly.
12. No more My Documents, My Pictures, My videos folders etc. Everything is now stored according to User and these folders are now parsered.

That is all that Windows Vista pretty much gives you over Windows XP, well along with a nice looking Aero environment.
