Create your own computer games free?

I tried to use Reality Factory and Genesis 3D but they were both too old to run correctly on my computer (Windows 7).
So, are there any other, possibly more recently made, online video game makers?

You can try Game Maker 8 from YoYo Games. It’s free and makes side scrolling video games without a lot of programming knowledge required.
